Why WordPress?

Last fall I completed a 10 week blogging internship with Kelly McCausey at Mom’s Talk Network. I can’t even begin to describe how much I learned from her but one of the main things was working with WordPress.

WordPress is a content management system that you can access from any internet connection. It works on both Mac & PC’s and you can assign users and contributors (friends or employees) to help you post to the blog. Your design is separate from your content, I especially like this part because in the past you couldn’t just change the look & feel of your website without it requiring a total site rebuild.

WordPress makes website updates, navigation, theme, pages, etc. super easy. Programmers worldwide are always contributing to this “open source” software making it better & better. Best of all there is no HTML required, sure it helps occasionally with design re-do’s but if you don’t want to learn it you don’t have to.

Update 5/6/2010: My love of wordpress just became more intense because I have purchased the Thesis Theme. WOW…..is all I can say. I have no formal education in coding yet this theme allows me customize just like the pros & if there is anything I can’t figure out then they have a wonderful support forum that includes tips & tutorials. I am now a lover of WordPress & Thesis…like peas & carrots they just go together :)
