Step 1: Getting To The Applications Area
Log into your facebook account, on the “Home” page look in the left sidebar for Applications. If you don’t see it in your list, you may need to click more under Photos for it to appear. Once you have located it, click the Applications link.
On the new page, you can see any applications you already use, applications your friends use, as well as an applications directory link at the bottom. To see the apps your friends are using, click “More” otherwise click the directory link at the bottom of the page.
Step 2: Locate The Business Applications
Next you will see a page with featured apps, suggested apps, and more. Instead of just browsing through the apps, consider doing a search or the apps categories in the left sidebar to narrow down your choices.
Since the subject here is about your business & Facebook, we’ll click on the business link to find applications that will benefit your business.
Step 3: Select and Add The Application
As with most businesses looking to market themselves on Facebook, you look to direct traffic to your website/blog. One of my favorite apps for that purpose is called NetworkedBlogs, which automatically imports a snippet from each of your blog posts to your Facebook page wall. Look down the list and you should see an link to click for NetworkedBlogs.
The welcome page might be the first page you come to. It encourages you to become a fan (or “like”). You can do so or not it’s up to you. Next you’ll click the button that resides underneath the NetworkedBlogs icon in the upper left hand area that says “go to application”.
Step 4: Permissions For Applications
As with all Facebook applications you must give them permission to access certain information before you can get started. Just click the Allow button to grant permission.
Step 5: Find Blogs To Follow
Once you allow permission, you will be prompted through following and rating blogs. You can choose selections from the friends blogs tab and/or see who your friends are following in the other tab. Scroll to the bottom to click and go to the next screen.
If you don’t want to find blogs right now you don’t have to. If this is the case, just go to the bottom of the next page and keep clicking the “Next” button until you’re done.
When you reach the last page, click on the “go to the home page” link.
Step 6: Register Your Blogs
When you get back to the home page, click the “Register A Blog” button in the upper right hand corner, to add your blogs.
Step 7: Register Your Blogs
Fill out the information where you are prompted to do so and click the next button.
Step 8: Verify Author
Click yes if you are the author.
There are two options in verifying that you are the author. You can embed the NetworkedBlogs widget into your sidebar (this is what I did), or you can verify by friends. Select 9 friends who can say that this is your site, then click the send verification button.
Step 9: Syndicate
When you get all of your blogs registered, click the syndicate button and fill in all the information.
Step 10: Add Blog Tab
Once you’re finished with the settings, go to your home page, and click on “profile”. Click the “+” symbol in your tabs and then click on blog or type blog in the box at the bottom if it isn’t there yet. This will add the blog tab at the top of your page where all of your blogs will be seen with snippets of your latest posts.
