Prioritize — Starting small is good. You don’t need to be everywhere all at once. Determine where your target market is, and be there! However, being that Facebook & Twitter are the biggest and most popular social media sites right now, I would recommend starting with at least those two.
Keep in mind, this could change. The number of social media platforms is growing every day and as we know, what is hot today might not be hot tomorrow. (MySpace for example)
Begin with one at a time and spend a few minutes a day on each getting to know the system. Once you know that system and have a strategy in place, add another, then another, etc. The most important thing is to get started.
A few questions you might ask yourself before joining any social media networking service:
- Who uses this service?
- Is your target market here?
- Why do you want to use this service?
- Why do you need it?
That’s all for now but next time we’ll speak about targeting, being flexible & organizing. I would love to hear your ideas and any efforts you have put into place regarding prioritizing. Leave a comment & be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed or my newsletter for more tips.
